Fords can be a problem in high water, and extra crossings appear depending on level. Stock animals are prohibited at Laurel Fork Campground.

18.5 miles of trail across the combined 11,839 acres, much of it on old railroad grades and logging roads between 2,900 and over 3,700 feet. Forest Road 14 forms the western boundary and is the way in, from US 33 and Middle Mountain to the north or WV 28 east of Bartow to the south. Fords can be a problem in high water.
